Garden of England Crematorium and Memorial Garden Design

James Blake Associates was appointed by the London Cremation Company to design a memorial garden masterplan in conjunction with Hugh Thomas (architect) for a new crematorium.

The scheme at Sittingbourne, Kent, included the crematorium, access drive and parking areas, memorial gardens, a lake and native structural planting including woodland scrub.  Glades and wildflower meadows were also introduced to create an informal and reflective setting, providing a transition to the surrounding landscape.

The planting was implemented in three phases, with the final phase comprising planting surrounding the crematorium building and the formal garden areas. James Blake Associates administrated the planting works on behalf of the client.
